The same vaccine that was used for your primary series should be used for your booster dose. Other covid vaccines use a full dose for boosting. The Moderna Booster dose is only a half dose. The following groups are eligible for a booster shot six months or more after finishing their initial dose series: individuals age 65 years and older, individuals age 18 years or older who live in long-term care settings, individuals age 18 years or older with underlying medical conditions, and individuals age 18 years or older who live or work in high-risk settings. The Billerica Board of Health will be offering COVID-19 Moderna Booster shots on Friday Novemin the Town Hall Auditorium from 9am-12pm and 3-5pm. They can also visit the state’s Vaxfinder tool at. Parents should talk with their child’s pediatrician with any questions about the vaccine, including how to get the shot, and can also visit local pharmacies for the vaccine.
The vaccine is given as two doses three weeks apart, just like the version for older children and adults, but uses a lower 10-microgram dose, one-third the adult dose. The Town will look at holding additional clinics as supply is available. The follow up clinic for second doses will be from 3-6pm on Friday, December 3 rd. To help parents find additional Covid vaccine appointments, the Board of Health will be holding a clinic on Wednesday, November 10, from 3-6pm in the Town Hall Auditorium. The Town of Billerica, Billerica Public Schools, and the Board of Health are happy to hear that the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccine has been approved by the FDA and CDC for children between the ages of 5 and 11.
